I felt like the plot was very under developed and the relationship was meh.  Seemed like things were happening without much explanation or lead in.  I just started to get bored and confused.

I‘m really sorry, but I can‘t say I liked much of anything that happened in this novel.
I probably should have just stopped reading, but I wanted to give it a try anyway. Wasn‘t for me, neither the writing style not the plot. But that happens.

I love fantasy, and have read the other stand-alone’s in this series (mortal enemies to monster lovers ) and I enjoyed them, but this one not so much. I received this as an ARC, and was supposed to post it, but I didn’t love it and won’t lie about it. I did not enjoy the writing, I really struggled with this. I was already lost from the first chapter. The MMC wouldn’t have chosen the FMC if he didn’t have that vision. He would have chosen her friend, the one who he said looks like the others he takes to bed. I have no hatred to the authors, thank you for the ARC, I do appreciate having the opportunity to read this before others. I know there’s others who will enjoy it.

The plot was too reliant on the visions of the king to making progress, story wise or romance wise. It was basically just them sitting around, antagonizing each other, until a vision hit. I also just didn't really vibe with the MMC and how the FMC kind of forgave him for all the bad things he'd done (off screen) because he'd had a traumatic childhood. That's not a good reason to like someone.
