Bruh...

This must be one of my favourite books I've read since I began my journey into horror and thrillers. This book has surprisingly raw brutality that I wasn't expecting from it yet didn't deter me from continuing to read it, and I didn't expect it to cover such dark and explicit topics. I would definitely recommend reading the trigger warnings for this just in case because it does not shy away from some more mature and possibly sensitive topics to some readers.

I absolutely loved the more psychological aspects of the book as well as the discussions of the crime using said psychology, it made me a lot more interested and gave a more unique view to the traditional thriller book. I would have liked more discussion on Scott's feelings and mental health after his predicament, but I understand that it would have dragged on the story and caused a disruption in the fast pacing of this book.

"William S. Burroughs once said that no one owns life, but anyone who can lift a frying pan can create death. He was right. Killing is the easy part. The act of living-of finding happiness in life-that's the hard part"

When I say I'm flabbergasted...Your honor I am beyond belief on how I did not catch the hints. My goodness was this journey absolutely riveting

Andddd cue end of fancy talk lmao.

There was a killer. The BH killer. 6 boys dead. 1 escaped. And he pointed fingers, exposing who his captor was. The man so horrible as to go as far as killing 6 lives and ruining a while bunch of others as a result. The killer has been caught now right? There's no way he's still out there.

This book follows mainly 2 povs but there are a few others sprinkled about adding to the mystery.

The main MAIN one being a psychologist I think...? Maybe therapist? Of people who have violence tendencies. You have violent fantasies about your sister inlaw? Annoyed about how perfect she thinks she is? Wanna maybe...do some harm to her? Sure but talk to Gwen 1st. Tell her all about what you're feeling and she'll listen and help you keep them under wrap. After all. She IS an expert on killers.

The hints were placed so beautifully. I didn't catch them at all. In fact, my theories were way off. The author did a good job of putting my attention on the toy when the real prize was right in front of me. And she gave me a damn good time. Can't wait to read more from A.R. Torre.

A very intriguing mystery that had a number of twists up its sleeve. A bit gory and assault throughout the book, but the plot was very interesting
