I FINALLY FINISHED THIS OH GOSH. It only gave me four stress nightmares over the course of four months, but I did it. The Spellcaster trilogy is officially part of my top five YA trilogies of all time. The imagery is gorgeous, the writing is tremendous, and the characters are so good I want to be friends with all of them. I especially enjoyed the magic system. I wished the villains had a better sendoff than what happened, especially since they were so powerful, but the ending was still cute. I wish there was more of the characters just being happy now!

I'm so glad Verlaine got the love that she deserves. I was totally rooting for Asa and Verlaine the whole time!...

This was a great series, it took me awhile to finish the 3rd book but definitely recommend

Sorceress is the finale to Spellcaster and gives you all the content you could want to finish the series.
Whilst I do love these characters but I found myself struggling to not only start but finish this book, I didn't feel compelled to do so. I did enjoy it, it was a fun read once I got through it (with the aid of audiobook) but I can't say it's something that I would say was incredible or amazing.
I found the majority of this plot to be predictable. There was so much happening and yet not a lot for such a large portion. I really only stuck around for Asa and Verlaine as my favourite characters, which was definitely worth it as I feel this book focuses more on them than it probably should.
Overall it was an easy read/listen and is worth it for the sake of finishing the book, but isn't something I would read again.

Despite having such a dark premise, this book was nauseatingly sappy. Don’t get me wrong, Team Not Evil had plenty of despairing moments, but as the reader I never really felt it. I also didn’t really feel the romances — partly because the couples are mostly in HEA mode (or as close to it as possible with the impending apocalypse), which demonstrated most of the things that disappoint me in YA romance subplots.

I remember really liking this series when I started it, so it could just be the Boss Battle Effect that almost inevitably diminishes my enjoyment of the series finale. Or it could be the way this book constantly swings between extremes, with all-or-nothing plot twists that don’t always pan out. It was a decent read, but hardly spectacular.

Nadia and Mateo’s relationship remains under fire from Elizabeth, with the added complication that as her Steadfast, his presence can actually increase the power of any dark magic Nadia is forced to perform. However, it is Verlaine and Asa whose improbable romance comes to the fore. Haunted by the fact that the One Beneath could require him to kill Verlaine at any time, Asa pushes her to seek out ancient and forbidden knowledge about how to kill a demon so that she will be able to protect herself from him, and their star-crossed romance steals the show. read more

This was a good conclusion to the series. Everything was wrapped up that needed to be and I enjoyed the ending. I would recommend this series to friends.

Will Nadia be able to complete her plan? Will she be able to save Captive Sounds? Or will she lose herself to the one Beneath/dark magic?

Sorceress by Claudia Gray does a wonderful job at wrapping up the series! Overall, I enjoyed this series, it wasn't something super spectacular but it was worth reading. It was an interesting take on how a society uses or doesn't use magic and the community it developes.

Ik heb genoten van deze serie.
Het werd steeds spannender en ik werd er soms zelfs een beetje paranoïde van.
Het einde was exciting en het laatste hoofdstuk was een mooie afsluiting van de serie.
