Loved this. It has everything I like. POV changing chapters, supernatural elements, historical base.

It’s reminiscent of The Vanishing Half coupled with Ring Shout. Both of which are also amazing.

This is about twin girls who were separated shortly after birth. The darker skinned one moved to Harlem with her grandmother while the lighter one stayed in Georgia on a cotton plantation with her grandmother. Magic and the past come together to rectify the abuses of the past and present to bring hope to the future.

WOW! Absolutely stunning! Mirror Girls is a gorgeous, haunting story of the of lives that were affected by slavery in rural Georgia. Stories that were not supposed to be talked about outside the family. Bi-racial Twin sisters separated at birth. Ghosts intertwined throughout. One sister slowly disappearing. I can’t wait for this book to be out so I can get my students read. Thank you to Edelweiss for the review copy.

I loved this! Fraternal twin infants Charlie and Magnolia are separated after their parents are brutally murdered in 1936. Fast forward to 1953 and neither sister knows the other exists. Charlie lives in New York City but is escorting her dying grandmother from New York City to Eureka, Georgia. Magnolia has never left Eureka, is white-passing, and grew up believing she was a white Southern belle. Their worlds collide in this moody and mysterious novel where American history and Southern Gothic elements fill the pages with complex characters and significant social themes. The plot moves along quickly and I couldn't put it down.
