This was a good and important read. However, I did have a somewhat difficult time believing that Magnolia would accept her ancestry so easily.

Really enjoyed this book and finished it in one sitting (I mean, not hard with audio but still). Twins separated at birth, and a curse that haunts them both. What more could you want?

Very interesting concept. Loved the bit of supernatural element to the story.

This book features twin sisters, Magnolia and Charlene (Charlie), who were separated at birth due to their skin color and segregation. Kelly McWilliams brings up tough topics such as slavery and jim crow laws and brings it all together in a realism book with hints of supernatural. Overall, this book is very good and I’d highly recommend it to anyone.

Fast paced book. It brings to light the guilt that white passing or light skinned black people sometimes carry as their burden. It also helps new audiences understand the atrocities that occured for decades after slavery was abolished.
