The one problem I have with this book:
The end didn’t really end. I felt there was still more that could have been discussed about what what happening after everything that went down. I still have many questions

this series was truly excellent. The world building was easy to follow but everything grew within the books. The writing was just beautiful. The perspectives where different but it always kept me interested and wanting more.

Ich bin super enttäuscht.. Habe mich so auf den finalen Band gefreut, denn die Reihe hat so so gut begonnen. Band 3 war schwach, aber was die Autorin hier in Band 4 verzapft hat, erschließt sich mir überhaupt nicht.
Verliebt bin ich nach wie vor in das Weltsetting, in welches uns Kendare Blake entführt. Fennbirn als Insel, eingeschlossen durch einen mysteriösen Nebel, magische Gaben, Mythen, königliche Traditionen... da hat man doch alles was einen Fantasy Roman besonders macht. Aber ein Buch lebt natürlich durch seine Figuren.
Katherine und Mirabella waren von Anfang an meine Favoriten. Ich fand ihre Charaktere unglaublich interessant und konnte mich am besten noch in die beiden hineinversetzen. Deswegen betrauere ich auch sehr heftig ihren Tod! Und nicht nur der Umstand dass sie nicht lebend aus dieser Tragödie hervorgehen, sondern WIE die beiden gestorben sind. Mirabellas Tod erscheint so unwichtig... Sie stirbt und das war‘s. Punkt. Es geht so schnell und fühlt sich so bedeutungslos an, was es eigentlich nicht sein sollte. Sorry, aber das erschließt sich meiner Logik überhaupt nicht.
Katherine kämpft gegen ihre eigenen Dämonen und geht schlussendlich als Beschützerin vor ihrem Tod hervor, aber hey... wie wäre es mal mit einem Happy End für die Schwestern?!
Schlussendlich bleibt nur Arsinoe übrig von den Drillingen, die - meiner Meinung nach - auch eine viel zu kleine Rolle gespielt hat. Jules und Arsinoe trifft man ja in den Büchern nur im Doppelpack und Jules nimmt viel mehr Raum ein, als die eigentliche Drillingskönigin. Gehts noch??
Abgesehen davon konnte ich Jules Charakter nicht leiden, sie war mir von Anfang an super unsympathisch. Hinzu kommt noch Emilia... who the fuck is Emilia?! Wer zum Teufel denkt sich so einen bescheuerten Charakter aus??? Die Eule ist so unnötig!
Pietyr Verrat an Katherine hat mir das Herz gebrochen.. das ist so ein Feigling. Ich konnte seine Furcht vor ihr verstehen, aber dass er sich gleich den Rebellen anschließt und aufgibt.. ne, der war bei mir sofort durch!
Die Handlung war sehr langatmig, in knapp 300 Seiten passiert nichts außer Planung, Gerede, Vorbereitung und auf den letzten 100 Seiten haut die Autorin ein Ding nach dem anderen raus. Geht gar nicht... Ich hatte das Gefühl dass sie nicht wirklich an dem Buch Interesse hatte, sondern es schleunigst beenden wollte.
Für mich erschliesst sich auch der Grund nicht, weshalb in dem Buch so ein Wirbel um den mysteriösen Nebel und die damit verbundene Vergangenheit der ehemaligen Königinnen gemacht wird. Schlussendlich spielt das ja im finalen Kapitel eh keine Rolle mehr?!?!
Dieses Buch ist von der ersten Seite an super deprimierend und das zieht sich bis zum Schluss durch. Ich habe mich echt gequält & bin froh, es beendet zu haben.
Schmuckstücke im Regal sind sie trotzdem.

This was such a journey and I loved every bit of it. I loved the writing and the way that the author can keep me entertained from the beginning till the end of the book. I loved the characters, so much so that I can even say that I made up even with Katharine. Mirabella apparently wasn't a traitor, she just has a big big heart that is too good for this world. Arsinoe was my favorite from the start. She was the only one that didn't seem to be favored by anyone. Katharine had the Arrons and Mirabella had the priestesses and the whole island. Arsinoe was the underdog, but she kept fighting against all odds with everything she had in her arsenal.
I loved the conflict. I was curious who would come on top, who would be favored by the Goddess so to say. But it was obvious that the dead queens had to go, whether that meant Katharine as well did not matter in the end. Another character that I was really fond of was Jules. She will always be close to my heart because of the way that she treated Arsinoe. She stuck by her through thick and thin and came out the other side more or less whole.
I just had such a great time with all of this series that I'm sad to see it over. I wish there was more, though things are pretty set for the future. I'm more curious what the island of Fennbirn will look like in 200 years. I want to see what changes were made to the way things were done before and if the reign of the queens was, after all, worse than what the new queen could do.
And then there were some parts that were less than perfect, like the fact that the first part of the book is mostly talk, which to be honest I didn't mind, but some people would. There was also the death of Mirabella, which seemed sudden and a bit rushed. I felt like she needed to be killed and that's the best that the author could come up. She could have died for a much better reason, like trying to end the mist. But these things didn't take much away from the book, so for me it's still a five stars read.

Better than the previous one. It felt a bit slow to start, but I think that was probably because I had been away from the series for over a year.
Certainly not the resolution I imagined while I was reading the first book, but it makes sense.

I was not expecting that ending! Things definitely didn’t happen the way I thought they might, but I felt it wrapped things up quite nicely.
Im SOBBING !! I’m torn between saying it’s the perfect ending, wanting an additional story, and wishing they had all survived and just been sisters
