I'm honestly ok with how things turned out for our Queens. I expected some of the...events that happened, so I wasn't too distraught. I wish there was more info about the Legion Curse in the end than what we were given. I also feel the same about the mist and the Blue Queen. The beginning was so damn slow as well, but the 2nd half of the book was just absolutely amazing. I think it's a just end for the series.
Also, I got the exclusive bonus content that came included with the Beacon Book Box special edition, and my heart is full. I consider that the ending I wanted, so I'm so glad I got that.

Wholesome, Emotionally staggering and gripping to the core. This ending to the series was not what I predicted and it is for that reason that it is completely and utterly iconic! This series is a perfectly crafted masterpiece and now I've finished I want to go back and do it all again!
I love that the story was unconventional and took twists and turns I would never have dreamt while reading the first few books. Everything pieced together perfectly to utlimately lead to one of the most heartwarmingly tragic ends to a series I have ever read.
I loved every second of Five Dark Fates, full review to come soon!

After reading Book #4 in this series, I feel like the story was forced.
It is my opinion the story could have been told in 3 books.
Also, I didn't find Five Dark Fates to be exciting or captivating, it was out of loyalty to the series that a DNF didn't happen.

Overall an okay series. A thing that I noticed through out the books is that in the second half of the book it gets interesting so it take a long time to get invested in it.

Meh. Just .... meh.
Somtimes the premise of a book is super exciting and promising. However, the execution is bad.
I really liked the idea of the triple sisters, each with her own powers, to fight for the one throne. I still like the characters, the setting and plot. Yet, the plot was drawn-out. This could have been a perfect duology or maybe even stretched into a trilogy ... but four books were too much. So much happened while so much didn't happen at the same time. Weird, huh?
The formular of each book was the same : 400+ pages in total. Nothing happens for the first 200-300 pages. The plot just keeps floating. Then the second half hits ike a tornado (meaning the last 100-50 pages), everything is on fire (tornado = fire, sure Steffi ...) and suddenly ..... the book is over.
I really hoped the finale installment wouldn't follow the formular but well, I hoped too much. Honestly, I think Five Dark Fates was even more dragging than the previous books.
For the first half we see how the sisters are preparing for war or trying to avoid war. How Katherine is suffering from the Dead Queens and super detective Mirabella wants to find out what is wrong with Katherine while Arsinoe is suddenly a super duper poisoner/low magic practioner. For 250 pages we follow that plot. Yep, for half the book. Actually, I don't even remember what happened during the first half.....
....... and then came the tornado. Everything happened so fast and it was soooo WEIRD. There is one particulary scene where I didn't understand what the hell was happening and I was like huh ?????????????? Maybe that's due to the writing style. Throughout the whole series I missed some sentences. Some ... connections. Like, two characters are talking to each other and then something happens out of nowhere and I did not grasp the context. I would love to give an example, but they are all spoilery. I had to reread some parts again because they were weird and strangely written :/
So, now that the tornado finally came after 280 pages and everything went downhill ... the book was over and I am still left with questions. This is the disadvantage of writing a 400 pages novel and writing a dragging first half: the conclusion lacks. I think it was ok to do this in the first books, but as a series finale?!?!?! I was so disappointed and sad how things were left open. The last 20 pages just felt rushed and incomplete.
Another thing that bothered me was that everything, really EVERYTHING was soooo convenient. The plot just went on so smoothly. Everything fit so perfectly and practical. No matter what a character did, it benefit another characters very conveniently.
Ok, don't get me wrong. Although I just pointed out all my negative thoughts, I want to make clear that I still enjoyed the series overall. As I said earlier: the premise was exciting, but the execution mediocre.
