I love how many twists and turns happened in order to reach the finale.
I felt like Five Dark Fates had some more pacing issues and some parts were tough to get through, but overall I enjoyed it. Nothing I expected to happen happened, which kept me on my toes for the most part.
I never really liked any of the sisters/queens, but in the end, I’m not sure I was ever supposed to. It didn’t change my enjoyment of the series or what I ended up rooting for because they all had their flaws and their qualities.
I definitely recommend the series and loved how dark and full of magic and mystery it was. Not the most likable characters, but an intriguing setting and a ton of politics ended up making it worth the read!

I cant give this series 5 stars because I was dying for some sort of explanation!

I was underwhelmed and disappointed by this finale. There were pacing issues throughout (similar to the other three books) and then, all the action and the finale were over too quickly.

And some spoilers:

Spoiler
Katharine and Mirabella deserved better. I know somebody had to die, but it just left me feeling sad and empty.
Pietyr coming back was a nice surprise and I liked his interactions with the other characters.
I’m glad I finished the series (doesn’t happen very often!) but it was a love/hate relationship throughout--loved the idea and characters,, hated the pacing and the plotholes.

(3.5 stars) It ended the way it should have ended.

Kendare Blake set this ending up from the very beginning and anyone who complains it doesn't "fit" was not reading the same series I just read. I do think Blake could have explained some things more thoroughly than she did. I still have lingering questions that will never be fully explained, no matter how many times I revisit this series (which I think I eventually will). But I can't fault her for that. The woman managed to make me fall in love with almost all of her characters, and I even cried a few times. I will definitely be picking up more Kendare Blake books in the future.

SpoilerLingering questions:

1. Why did the Legion Curse magically disappear?
2. What was Katharine's familiar? I think it was Sweetheart the snake, but I need a definitive answer!
3. Why did the Goddess really abandon the triplets? We are given a pretty vague answer about the queens straying "too far off course," but it seemed like the island's society was at fault, not the queens themselves (since the triplets were pawns meant to advance the political agenda of the various gifted sects).
4. What was the point of Daphne, other than to make Mirabella and Arsinoe return to the island? This subplot sort of dropped off in the end. I'm still unsure as to whether Illiann was pushed to her death or not, and it ultimately didn't seem to matter.

I think I’ve enjoyed this book more then the first three! To be fair I rushed a bit through books 2 and 3 because there were other books I was trying to get to, that being said I still enjoyed them. They all just dragged a bit for me.
But this one I didn’t want to put down, and was sad every time I had to! In my opinion this last book was wrapped up so nicely and I really enjoyed the epilogue, I felt like it closed the series nicely but still left me wanting just a little bit more!

If you are looking for intricate families and watching 3 sisters grow, this is definitely the series for you!

Although the ending of this series wasn’t what I hoped for, it did end well and wrap up the series as a whole. This book was filled with action packed scenes, hard decisions, and difficult emotions from the main characters. Pretty good end to the series!

This book was everything I needed it to be, what a great end to an epic series.
