prefers his pov to hers, one criticism: I can't stand the word 'bag' annoyed me a lot....

Well, I love Travis even more now. It was nice to have an insight as to why he went so over the top at times. The epilogue was not how I expected it to go, but I really enjoyed it.

It was nice to see a story from the other character's view. I really enjoyed it.

Sooooooo..... half of me would give this book 2 stars and the other would give it 3. First let me start by saying that I typically do not read perspective books (same story, different view point), but I really enjoyed Beautiful Disaster so I thought I would give Walking Disaster a try.

2 Stars: Since Beautiful Disaster was heavy with dialogue, it made Walking Disaster very redundant. Plus, as to be expected, I already knew the ending and all of the plot twists.

3 Stars: I really enjoyed reading Travis’ perspective and seeing his personal interactions with his father, brothers and Shepley. I especially enjoyed the ending and I am really, REALLY hoping that McGuire makes that a separate story (even though I have read that she is done writing about Abby and Travis).

Overall, I would rate this a book a 2.5… It wasn’t the best book, but it was far from the worst.

A “retelling” of their terrible toxic relationship, but from his point of view. The whole thing just felt like I was reading the first book again, but somehow managed to become even more cringy. It took me a year to get through this book because I just didn’t like any of the characters, or the story line, and I knew what was coming so it was hard to keep reading.

I don't know what I thought about this book. Yes, I thought it was interesting to read from the guy's perspective but I think I liked the original better. And even then, I had quite a few gripes about the original...

I absolutely ADORE Travis and this book was no exception. I truly truly loved the story and the characters and felt like Jamie McGuire made her readers a part of the story. I am not usually a fan of dual POV sequels but in this one learning about Travis and his POV was amazing. I fell in love with him even more throughout this story. Great Job making me swoon Jamie McGuire

I kept telling myself I would stop and not finish this. But I did finish it. And it was terrible. It was somehow even worse than the first book and offered little to no insight into Travis’s mind despite being from his perspective.
It also surprisingly left out some pivotal scenes from the first book? Scenes that were integral to the plot of the first book were glossed over or never even mentioned. Not sure why those would be left out, but it was jarring.

Walking Disaster offered a trip through Travis's mind and a chance to understand his thoughts and motivations; and I have to say it was an excursion that overall I enjoyed.

Travis is sociable and friendly, when he's not drunk, glowering or acting like an ass, but never lets anything that's roiling and boiling beneath the surface come through in words.

We're given the opportunity to fully understand why Travis is such a damaged and angry individual; privy to what even those closest to him aren't allowed.

Underneath the hot temper and the less than moral actions was a scared man who felt unable to convey these things in more conventional manners. Travis knows he's fucked up and on many occasions admits his failings; he's not in denial of the realities of his personality flaws.

Even when he was pissing me off, my heart was still breaking for him, even though I wanted to slap the bejeezus out of him (and Abby, still). I love Travis, 90% of the time I wanted to wrap him in a blanket and give him hot cocoa. The other 10% I wanted to send him to therapy and rehab. Travis is a controversial literary character, but I also find him to be a very realistic character. For me his flaws make him beautiful and endearing to me.

Walking Disaster retold the drama from Beautiful Disaster in Travis's voice and culminated in an ending fit for two dysfunctional people who others were convinced could never make it.

I received Walking Disaster as an ARC through NetGalley, from Atria Books.
