The conclusion of the Caraval trilogy, Finale wraps up the tale of Scarlett, Tella, and the Fates.

This was a really fun end to the series. I still LOVE Dante and Jacks, and thought Julian had some great moments as well. Both of the sisters annoyed me in parts, but overall I enjoyed their boldness and appreciated finally getting both of their POVs in the same book.

I can’t much more without spoilers, but I had a lot of fun with this trilogy and highly recommend it! I’m excited to read the Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy soon.

CW: Death/blood/violence/injury/torture; death of parent; murder; confinement/kidnapping

Finishing the end of the trilogy made me go back and take book 2 from 4 to 3.5 stars. I'll admit that there's some highlights in Finale, namely the lovestory between Scarlett and Julian for being tragic and feeling ripped out of a teenager's fantasy and Jacks' sarcasm. However, I think the problem with this stems from the fact that it feels too YA in terms of the roundabout writing style, the randomly thrown in plots and toxic relationships. By too YA I mean that even if I'd read this 5 years younger I still think I'd find the characters and the writing annoying.
The best book of this trilogy was definitely the first one as it introduced this magical, wondrous carnival and its depiction was beautiful and Scarlett's character was acceptably innocent. But from book 2, I felt the world wasn't developed enough to cope with the expansion of the plot, and the characters didn't grow for me.

I was very happy with this ending.  It took us three books of nonsense with these sisters for them to come to their senses, but it proved to be worth the wait.

I absolutely adore Scarlett and Julian.
Their love for each other is pure and somewhat childish, but I love how obsessed he is with her.  I do wish she had stuck with the game just to make him sweat, but I’m glad they worked through it all to come out stronger.

Tella is over here kissing on all the cute boys.  I know it wasn’t strictly her fault, but she drove me nuts flip flopping between Legend and Jacks.  In the end, Legend won her heart and I’m actually happy with that.

Although I feel for Jacks, I know his story is only beginning.
Now I head to reread OUABH and TBONA before A Curse for True Love is released.
