the prophecies begin: the graphic novel is a faithful and interesting adaptation of the first two books (the prophecies begin and fire and ice) in the first series of the warriors books.

as someone who read these as a kid and recently read them again as a young adult, this graphic novel adaptation was a fun read, and one that was hard to put down. the graphic novel adapts the story of the first two novels extremely well. obviously, some detail is lost in the transfer but in my opinion, this is a good example of a very well done adaptation. with cute character design and style and clear characterization, this is such a good book. i am very excited to read the next book and keep up with the releases!

Loved this and would definitely read again, half a star off for changed storyline because some important things were left off (even without the other half of book two being covered next time)

skepticalyarn's review

4.0

before publishing date: SO HYPE FOR THIS WTF

after reading: this was a really cool adaptation of Into the Wild and Fire & Ice! I really enjoyed the art style and the artists' interpretations of how the characters and settings look. of course, there isn't as much room for plot details in a graphic novel as in a novel, so I felt like some of the plot points were a bit rushed. I'm not sure how new fans would be able to really understand the details and nuances of certain moments, being that some things are subtly revealed or hinted at in the art, but I'm sure current fans would love this adaptation. overall, it was really cool and fun to read, and I am looking forward to the next adaptations!

like a few of the other reviews mentioned it is a bit fast paced, like a lot of the apprentices relationships in book 1 being cut and stuff being more or less summariesed unless it's one of the bigger plot lines.

however I didn't really mind this, it's a beautifully made graphic novel, with gorgeous and fun panels throughout. the dream panels were by far my personal favourites.

I do recommend giving the og books a read if you do end up liking this novel, if you haven't already!
