Great except I kept getting confused on the houses and bloodlines.

It was an absolutely beautiful book. I love Alex and her work, so it’s no surprise that this book was amazing.

Lore was more than I expected. I didn't have a full idea of what the book was about, just that it involved Greek gods, which usually an auto-buy for me. I could not be happier with the decision to pick this book up. The story of Melora and the Agon was just...beautifully written. I've never enjoyed Artemis in Greek mythology, and I feel like this version of her truly captured what everyone forgets. Lore had so many faults as a person, but she truly learned to embrace them and work with her mistakes, to learn from them, and it was refreshing as a reader to see her character grow. The character development for all of the characters was incredibly well done, and I can always dream of another book, but I think the ended was well rounded and exactly what this story needed. 10/10 would recommend.

I originally wanted to read this book because of it being about Greek mythology, which happens to be something I am interested in. That is the only reason I kept reading until I was done.

Story:
I thought that the idea of this book Lore was a cool way to incorporate Greek mythology into the modern world and make the main characters be important to Greek mythology in a way that made sense. I however couldn't tell what the plot was for most of the book until I realised the plot was literally just to kill the bad guy. The story had some plot twists and some little connecting details here and there but to be honest I didn't care for them and thought the plot twists to be pretty obvious instead of shocking.

Setting:
The book takes place in modern New-York. I found the setting to be interesting to read about at times and the little details cool to visualise. I don't think the world building was amazing though and the characters didn't stay in one place for long so lucky for me I have a very vivid imagination that I used to imagine the world the way I thought it would look like.

Characters:
I got a little about the characters personality and by the characters I mean only the main character Lore. I only really knew Lore's motivations, I only knew what Lore thought about everything and everyone and so much so that the other characters seemed unimportant. The best friend character could've been cut from the story and it would've changed nothing, sometimes the best friend character seemed to only be there to be a tokenized diverse character (being Korean and Gay) and to help the main character with her plans by doing something that any of the other characters could have done. Pretty much what i'm trying to say about this character is that they had nothing about them that made them stand out from the other characters and they were so minor (even though they were one of the leading characters) that even the main character forgot about them.

Relationships:
Ah relationships, something that was in this book but seemed like it wasn't until we were told in the narration that the relationships were in fact there. None of the relationships in this book were developed in the ways were the readers should know how important the relationships are to the characters, and to the story.

#1. The main couple.
The main couple annoyed me and frustrated me mostly because they did not need to be a couple!! This couple showed no signs of romance between each other until half way through the book when the main character kisses the love interest (without telling him before hand or giving him any sign that she liked him or wanted to kiss him!!) with uncertain consent from the other (not getting consent from both sides for kissing or s$x is a HUGE pet peeve of mine). Even their friendship wasn't that good.

#2 The "best friends"
These "best friends" did not really feel like best friends mostly because me as the reader didn't have a sense of how good their friendship was and instead it was just told, it was one of those "Tell instead of showing" moments in writing. Lore also constantly had their best friend go into danger and then when Lore realised the danger that the characters were in only stopped to think about how their best friend was doing after Lore finished with her plan.

#3 The Gay Couple
*Sarcasm* Oh how I love gay couples in books be so minor and unimportant so much so that they don't even feel like a couple (I know not every couple is the same but what I'm trying to say is that you couldn't even tell that they liked each other throughout the book before they became a couple because the story mostly focused on the main character.) This is another case of underdeveloped relationship.

Stakes:
There were none. There were threats of danger but the danger did nothing to effect the characters in a way were the reader should be thinking "oh no how are they going to get themselves out of this one alive".

Anyways in Conclusion this was a ok read, I think it had potential to be something a lot more and I really wish a lot of the book would've been more developed. I was interested in some aspects of this book and it was a pretty nice read.

I would recommend this book to someone that doesn't know much about Greek mythology since it does explain a bit about Greek mythology. As for people that want to read this book because it's about Greek mythology I would maybe recommend it because of the small references to stories in Greek Mythology. To people that want to read this for a 5 star story and amazing characters I wouldn't recommend this book.

Content warning:
Mentions of Rape and pedophilic behaviour, it is a prominent part of this book so I would be cautious about that when reading this book. I've got to say this book isn't a very light read.

I LOVED this book! I really enjoyed the whole vibe, I found the concept super interesting. I love the modern mythology theme along with the general story. This is a book I hope to re-read in the future because I always assume that some things get overseen or missed in the first read and this seems like one that would be good to re-read.

I will say as much as I enjoyed the book and hope to re-read it in the future, it isn't a "favorite". BUT if you like mythology and the mythological equivalent to "magical realism/urban fantasy" I guess perhaps urban mythology might be a thing?? If so, that is this. It does have that epic adventure vibe but set in a modern world.
