Wow! I absolutely loved this book! It also really did feel like it was kind of like the Hunger Games! My heart hurt for Lore and all that she suffered but I will say, that ending made heart smile! She deserved a great ending! Van got on my nerves but Castor and Miles, I adored! Was an awesome read!

3 stars.
This reminded me of a very gory Percy Jackson/Hunger Games adventure. Some some of the logic confused me
Spoiler I still don't understand how Athena faked her oath to Lore. Maybe Athena didn't use the right verbiage on purpose and Lore just didn't realize? That still seems fishy.
Also, the romances were not interesting. I liked Lore and Castor, but they were missing a spark, especially from Lore.
Spoiler Lore's first kiss with Casper felt like it came out of nowhere.

Also :)
Spoiler The entire time Athena was telling Lore "You have so much anger" and "It's okay to fight and kill because you're a warrior" I was picturing her dressed as Emperor Palpatine saying "Yesssss, feel your anger and hatred! Come to the dark side of the Force!"

I was unaware that I needed a mesh of Percy Jackson and The Hunger Games, but that's the best way I can describe Lore. If you are into these two series, I'd definitely check this book out. It's an interesting twist on Greek Mythology and I really enjoyed Lore as a character. There's a lot of action and some romance (friends to lovers trope.)

The book is not bad.. I just didn’t got so into it as I expected.
Romance is the best friends to lovers kind (I don’t particularly like this type) and to be honest there wasn’t much romance at all. The MC needs more self esteem and self confidence.
Her story is touching and sad, and the universe is interesting, but it didn’t catch me

Uffff.

Started this for bookclub, and had a busy month which meant I could not finish in time. It was not bad, but I am just not loving it enough to finish the last 30% when I have so many books on my TBR.

I'd rate what I read three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ of five. Interesting concept but a bit too layerd with too much background and universe details. That's super impressive on the part of the writer, but was a bit much at times (especially since this was a bookclub pick for readers from mutiple genres). There's was a lot of layers to this: Greek gods in a hunger games style battle, family lineages, new gods/old gods, Lore's personal family history, artifacts of the gods, the political games of the familes and gods, a poem with an incomplete section, patriarchal bloodlines, fated future, tropes like reconnecting friends to lovers, forced alliances, etc.....and now make it all set in New York. Even as a fantasy reader it felt like there was a ton going on, and I just kept thinking "There's MORE info/backstory/family history/magical elements?!" I would maybe revisit after I have tackled other books on my TBR.

All that being said, this would actually make a cool Netflix/HBO/Prime series.

I thought it was quite good, very dark parts that are not for the faint of heart. But i like how it ended.
