Too cerebral, even for me.

Tower of Babylon - 3,5★ I loved the setting and characters, but didn't entirely get the message here... just some kind of metaphor for human kind relationship with god? Or am I missing something?

Understand - 4,5★ The pacing of this story guys! Like I couldn't keep up with the tremendous mind of the main character, very exciting!

Division by Zero - 2,5★ I liked the notion of algebra falling apart. However, the story was so sad, but too short to actually get attached to the characters and feel sorry for them.

Story of your Life - 5★ Linguistic, time (and mind) paradoxes, aliens. Shut up and take my money!

Seventy-Two Letters - 2,5★ Nice kind of steampunk atmosphere. Too many complicated theories and unnecessary details which only made the story boring.

The Evolution of Human Science - 3★ Interesting.

Hell is the Absence of God - 2★ Basically God is a heartless being that acts without any kind of logic... so what?

Liking What You See: A Documentary - 4★ I loved how this story brings up the issue of "beauty" notion and really makes you analyse it from so many different perspectives.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I’ve got to say- Ted Chiang is a genius.

The way he crafts his tales with precision and imagination is truly something to be amazed at.

Each one of his stories have a different tone of voice and completely different feel and yet are all uniquely his. I would definitely say this is a favourite book of mine.

* MUST READ * especially for science fiction lovers !

"Likewise, the physics discussions went poorly. Only with the most concrete terms, like the names of the elements, did we have any success; after several attempts at representing the periodic table, the heptapods got the idea."

An amazing collection of speculative fiction short stories. I will be keeping an eye out for more of his work.
