Sounded really interesting, and it was there was some reason I couldn’t get into it I don’t think it was the gore and violent as I have read books that are worse
I am unsure why I didn’t like this book
I will hopefully pick it up again in the future

Okay first off, that acknowledgement is top tier- hands down relatable and iconic. Second, GOD THIS BOOK IS SOO GOOD. The way it is so eloquent and shows both the beauty and horror of the events in Syria. Every character is so lovable, and dare I say, Kenan is the sweetest dude in fiction I’ve ever had the privilege to read. The ending was so sweet, and the plot twist in the middle?? Heartbreaking. What a heartbreaking tale. I know that this particular work is fiction but the scenarios in which these characters were living are unfortunately very real. I have so much appreciation and admiration for the strength for those who endure life in war torn countries and even those who are lucky enough to make it out. This book provoked so many feelings as you process the grief, fear, anger and desperation alongside the characters . Simply put this is an excellent read that more people should read . I think so many people could gain more empathy for others .
