It's been years since I read this Dismas Hardy breakthrough novel. Newly fired Dismas must defend his friend and ex father in lay, Judge Andy Fowler for murder. Great book and the first from this series I've read in quite a while.

Even though I figured out the murderer earlier on, the twists and turns of this narrative were still enjoyable. Classic Lescroart.

Due to my schedule, this book took me forever to finish, but boy, was it ever worth it! I love how Lescroart's books grab you right at the beginning and don't let you go until the very end. There was a large cast of loveable (and some not-so-loveable) characters, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a tension packed courtroom mystery.

Too many characters, too slow.
