This one is going to haunt me for a while... Michelle really dives deep into the Golden State Killer (EAR-ONS) and all of the heinous acts and terror he inflicted in the East Area of California from 1976-1986. It’s a tragedy that Michelle couldn’t see her book through to the end and justice to be served. I found it a very slow read and was pretty disheartening for womankind during a lot of it, but it was written beautifully and crafted with care.

I was surprised to find this available on the cloud. It’s not really my kind of book and I felt at times confused and lost (I think being able to refer to some of the images or maps mentioned would have helped). I also feel like this is the worst kind of book for me because now I suspect someone is lurking around every corner. The story jumps around and drags on a bit for me but I do like how her obsession with this crime led to his arrest. The parts that detailed more of her research and sleuthing were more interesting to me then the gruesome details about rapes and murders.

I’m in the minority on not really enjoying this one:( it not you, it’s me, haha. I just found this book to wander around so much I couldn’t focus, I skimmed the last 1/4, I had to be done. I’m not usually a quitter on true crime but this one lost me.

I'll be gone in the dark was a bittersweet and immersive read about the Golden State Killer. I was gutted at the end that Michelle didn't get to see the crime solved. I hope she got closure in the end.

I loved the concise yet immersive writing style and the exploration of not just the killer but the victims and the detecives on the case. Michelle had a way of bringing the people and the towns to life, allowing the anxiety of these places to be felt through every word.

Phenomenal and addicting. I just wish they would come out with a new edition since shortly after the book came out, we cought DeAngelo. I'd love to know how that bears out they're suspicions
