This one was fine and sort of boring. I liked the idea of a book about people living in house boats, but it never quite delivered for me. None of the drama of the story really pulled me in. I’m surprised that this one took the Booker.

I found Offshore's characters to be eccentric yet for the most part unlikeable. I take particular issue with Maurice's characterization, or lack thereof. A quick read.

This a simple story filled with colorful, quirky characters, entirely likable but not terrible remarkable. I'm left wondering what the panel used for criteria when selecting the Booker Prize.

Subtle and engaging story about a liminal society. While very much set in its time, it's not outdated.
