What I've learned from this book is that I'm extremely spiteful and prideful. I would never forgive Ami, and specially Ethan, so easily like that. The way they reacted AND gaslit her was so incredibly shitty. The fact that Olive even reached out to Ethan again, gave him another chance to believe her and he broke up with her... just no. That's not the kind of hero I like in my romance stories. Neither him or Ami apologized for the things they said to her and I can't get past that. It's so annoying because I was liking the story –despite my annoyance at the amount of times Olive mentioned her own boobs, the fact that their "hate" was boiled down to a misunderstanding, and the bad pacing of their relationship. But the Dante mess kinda ruined the book for me. Ami should've said sorry at least and Ethan should've grovel for forgiveness and that's a hill I'd be willing to die on. So instead of 4 I can't bring myself to give this more than a 2 now.

Me:

Another winner from Christina Lauren, this time in the form of enemies to lovers… which I usually am not a fan of!
“He presses a hard, fast kiss to my cheek, and I force myself not to jerk away like I’ve been slapped with a dead lizard.”
In The Unhoneymooners Olive is self-proclaimed the unlucky twin. Unlucky in looks, in life, in her career, in just about everything. So it’s no surprise to her that her amazing sister is getting married and that the cute brother of the groom, Ethan, despises her.
But for once, luck goes her way and Olive is called up to take her sisters honeymoon… only problem is, Ethan as well and soon they find themselves impersonating the happy couple.
Getting themselves into many hilarious hijinks, Olive and Ethan start to realise that they may have been wrong about each other. Can the bond they are forming now last? Or will it be tested by something that no one but Olive saw coming?
“As much as I hate him . . . I think I’m starting to like us.”
This funny and cute story is the perfect read for a nice summers day. Set in a wonderful resort and full of hilarious predicaments it will have you laughing, smiling, sighing and wishing you could trade places.
“Individually Ethan and I are above-average intelligent people, so why are we so stupid together?”
Olive and Ethan have an easy bond that is believable and adorable. Although the trope here is enemies to lovers, it’s very light on amongst other books of this trope. Their ‘hate’ is more due to a misunderstanding than any actual insults and once cleared up there isn’t any animosity there. I loved that this was the case, as I said the enemies vibe usually isn’t for me as I can’t stand the common plots points like getting back at each other, mean pranks, yelling and fighting which is basically thinly veiled lust.
“Ethan Thomas is doing something weird to my emotions.”
There is an interesting message here of life not being about luck, but instead it’s what you make of it. Olive “the unlucky” twin starts to learn to take more ownership of the good and bad aspects of her life and sees the different in how that affects her future and the relationships she has with those around her.
“I still hate you,” I tell him, pushing a dark curl of hair off his forehead. He nods. “I know you do.”
Some of the people are pretty shitty to Olive and really have little faith in her opinions given they think her life is ruled by pessimism and doubt. It was nice to see her change in terms of her own outlook on life, but remain true to herself when she’s right and respectful of her own value.
“I can appreciate my body in a bikini and still want to set fire to the patriarchy.”
I’ll leave this one on the surprising fact that this book had fade to black sex scenes. This didn’t detract from the story at all but worth noting since Christina Laurens books tend to be more on the steamy side. A great book to try if you like your love stories a left up to the imagination a little more!
“I wanted you to be sociopath charming,” I say. “Too charming, so that afterward people look back and think, ‘You know, I didn’t get it at the time, but he was always too perfect.’ That sort of charming. Not, like, self-deprecating and cute.”
Half of Ethan’s mouth turns up, and I know what’s coming before it launches: “You think I’m cute.” “In a gross way.” This makes him smile wider. “Cute in a gross way. Okay.”

IT WAS SO GOOD... not until...
i liked the banter and how real it was in the part of when there are good things happening, assume there will be bad things as well...
not until ethan became an enabler... and everything escalated from there. the ending was so rushed like "that's it?"
they're brunch of stupid people who belittle one's capabilities
