While it brought me back to highschool and was typically out of the genre I usually read, Twilight was not as bad as expected, especially due to the hype surrounding it. It took some time for me to get into the story knowing the secret behind it all, but as I read more I started to enjoy it more, especially the dramatics toward the end helped me keep reading without putting it down. And most likely, I will end up going to see the movie when it is released as well just to compare.

*reread
First rating was 2/5 but I liked it a lot more the second time. Probably because I’m much older and enjoy romance now.

1 star for nostalgia, 0.5 stars bc my brain played supermassive black hole during the baseball scene. will not be reading the rest of the series but will *absolutely* be watching the movie tonight

thoughts:
•book edward is kinda funny
•book bella is gratingly annoying
•plot was…….. nonexistent? like, nothing happened except bella and edward stared at each other
•i wish i could regress a bit to twilight tumblr era (the silver volvo hype specifically)

Ugh, much worse the second time. At least I finished it, and without the aid of booze or smashing my ereader in frustration. So tempted though, many, many times to do both. I honestly don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said about this book. It's not romantic or beautiful, it's creepy and horrific. The writing is poor, the characters are loathsome, and the plot was crammed into less than 100pp out of the 500 in total. I just cannot express my disgust with this book, and for that matter, the entire series, adequately.

Re-reading po bezmála šesti letech (???) a ne, už to neshledávám TAK moc boží jako v jedenácti letech, ale není to zase tak strašný.

This was the only book that got me hooked to it so intensely that I finished it within a day. I know there are many reviews that deem this book overrated. I will not disagree with them, because a person who is not keen on reading such books but has only picked this book because of the level of popularity it achieved will find its success baffling and unwarranted.

I was a teenager when I read this book and it fuelled some of my fantasies. The push-&-pull of the male and female leads. The “inter-creatures’” romance and their struggle. All the basic teenage (melo)drama. Even though I never really enjoyed love stories (I still don’t) the presence of a vampire and dangers surrounding them made it exciting. I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed this book if I would’ve read this book now. You have to be of a certain age or rather at a certain level of maturity to enjoy this book.

To conclude, I would not recommend this book but if you asked if you should read this book then my reply to you would be to give it a go, there are worse books than this + you can always keep it aside if you don’t like it. So good luck.
