Good information for my career, not the most exciting presentation.
Really engaging book that shifted the way I think about not only technology, but the pitfalls of goal setting, obsession and addiction in our every day lives.
Alter's command of the material turns this into a highly enjoyable book that I was talking about the entire time I was reading. Endless pscyh studies, gaming, tv and device stats all made this an eye opener. It wraps up leaning into what for me was an unnecessary caution given the bulk of the material but I'd recommend this to anyone even curious about addiction to devices, gaming, the internet, social media and most surprisingly for me, goal setting. Fascinating.
Slightly outdated at this point, but still does a concise job of explaining how tech companies have willfully warped the way we think.
honestly this book was a lot less helpful than i thought it was gonna be? like some of the things it said came intuitive to me and it felt more like describing what was happening rather than how to actually avoid addiction in any realistic way? and like we already k this is a problem so like idk.
also a lot of the parts were pretty repetitive

It is well sourced and easily read.
