A creative dystopian world with some hard to read moments. A well developed story but the writing style felt like at times it couldn’t decide if it wanted to be young adult or not, so it lost me a little bit on style of writing consistency

I think I liked this book’s resistance to the easy, well-known dystopian narrative of catharsis. Nothing gets solved, necessarily, but watching these characters work slowly towards understanding — of themselves, their community, the poison or their economic system and the small ways it can be resisted — is both beautiful and difficult.

The audiobook performance is excellent and definitely pulled me in. It falls between YA and adult fiction. A compelling story and lovely writing. Would read this author again.
