Overall wasn’t a huge fan of the series, think this book was one of the better ones, definitely the best one with Persephone’s point of view.
The POVs of Hades were the better books in my opinion and same with the chapters in here.
Also there is a lot of smut, which I don’t normally mind. But in this case and for much of the series it’s like every other chapter and its pages of it. Felt like it took you out of the story and didn’t add anything to the characters growth or the storyline. Felt more like “oh don’t know what to put here so let’s let them go have sex.”
Putting those aside this version of Persephone and Hades story is pretty good, it’s interesting and you get to really enjoy the other gods and really enjoyed their personalities; would’ve liked more of them. Thinking the ending could’ve been a lot stronger but of course had to have a smut scene instead of showing the aftermath and where the character end up…

The story in this book was captivating however the smut was a bit distracting and unnecessary in this one. I mean, a little is fine but there was too much. This book had some really dark moments and the great battle seemed to wrap up way too easily. That said, it was an entertaining read and a great final book to the series.

Again, I think some of the sex scenes could be faded out or cut out and replaced with more soul-intimate scenes, if that makes sense. Some of the occurances just don't make sense holistically and I don't see Hades or Persephone going that route either. Like they just teleport from a horrid fight scene and then suddenly coitus 🤨😑  I skipped the Hades series as of this review, so it was my first encounter with the different povs and from characters other than Persephone and Hades. I enjoyed that. I think it was also a good way to transition out of this series to the next one!! I love the ending- it was sweet. I am excited to read more on Aphrodite and Hephaestus, and Dionysus and Ariadne.

This book was unnecessary graphic and delved into issues such as trauma, sexual assault, explicit rape, suicide, and more without true reason. None of this furthered the plot or was critical to character development. It was done without grace or tact. To add insult to injury, the plot was disappointing and slow. It didn’t feel like it was well thought out and didn’t really align with vibe from the previous books. Overall many aspects of this book felt forced.

Im not sure how to feel about this book. Part of me thinks i feel a little disappointed because the first 3 were really good and this one was just good, but another part of me just thinks I feel this way because it felt as if the plot was developing as the author was writing rather than having a clear vision. Whenever a new character gets introduced in a standing series and becomes one of the main POV's I tend to lose interest because the aspects of the series and characters that got me invested in the books initially are no longer there hence its like adjusting to a new series and this felt that way. Kind of like when a TV series you really like kills off a main character then tries to introduce a replacement. I understand why the 2 new characters became main POVs because they drive a big portion of this plot, but I just didnt sign up for them ya know? I wanted the original characters. Anyway, this rant is to say this books was just fine.

Check trigger warnings! A good conclusion to a retelling of Hades and Persephone that spans 4 books. A lot darker and longer than the previous books with many more characters POVs that shows the build up to the war and through it. Theusus' chapters were almost unbearable to read, his treatment to other characters made me despise him. I really enjoyed Dionysus' characterisation and his relationship with Ariadne. Some really hard deaths came from this book but I felt it was nesasary to develop Persophone from an innocent almost mortal to the powerful queen of the underworld. Hecates love and protection over Persephone was so great and Hermes humour really lifted this book in dark moments. Overall the characters really carried this world but the plot sometimes fell short with battles commencing fast and issues being resolved very fast
