The Wasp That Brainwashed the Caterpillar:
Evolution's Most Unbelievable Solutions to Life's Biggest Problems - a superficial survey into the world's weirdest critters.

Matt Simon has a hard-on for anuses and Charles Darwin. There's nothing wrong with that! But the book only scratches the surface of all these weird anus-dwelling animals and amounts to essentially a teaser trailer for interesting evolutionary patterns. If you want to learn more about the bizarre ways life has evolved, you'll have to dig through Wikipedia and research articles go beyond the few "didja-knows" listed in this book.

Our world is amazing! This book made me laugh and wonder and want to know more. I immediately bought three more copies to share with others.

Also this book makes me wish I taught high school instead of middle school; as there is much talk about animal and insect genitalia. But hilarious. Read this if you can handle it.

This book was super fun. The compilation of animals really threw me back to being a kid and just fascinated with life. He writes in a style very similar to the Ologies podcast which is my favorite. The illustrations were beautiful and just so cool.

So much of what is contained in here is completely fascinating. Some of which I knew (thanks, QI!), but much of which I didn't. Really great and the bite-sized chapters make for great, digestible reading when you've just got a few minutes. Like, I would totally buy a copy to leave in the bathroom. Sometimes the snarkiness grated a bit, with the trying too hard for laughs, but still pretty great.

Boeiend boekje. Het laat je vooral verwonderd achter over hoe prachtig en ingenieus de schepping in elkaar zit. Tegelijk roept het ook veel vragen en verbijstering op over deze zelfde schepping. Maar dat maakt het juist zo intrigerend.

If you love the bizarre adaptations of nature, then this is the book for you. I happen to be someone who digs these weird facts and stories, and this book was a DELIGHT to listen to. At times on audio, the jokes didn't seem to deliver as well as they would in print, but in addition to being really interesting, this has a lot of humor packed in what can sometimes be downright horrifying for humans to think about.
