This was such a fun and fluffy read! I was in a big reading slump and this cured it for sure! Was it a bit predictable? Yes. Did I mind? No. I love a good girl and bad boy romance. Sophie and her friends were instantly loveable. And Nate! I always love the classic emotionally damaged man who thinks he can't love anyone but is clearly in love with the MC trope. This was a super quick and fun read. It has everything I want in a historical romance- wit, charm, romance, smut, and great female friendships. I can't wait to read the next ones when they come out! This little group of friends will have such great stories!

I enjoyed this introduction to a new series. the four disreputable debutantes were captivating and I look forward to reading their stories. I'm invested in all the other characters as well.

I felt the plot here dragged on a bit at the end. I had a hard time with the hero's redemption given his past behavior.

the author is very interested in historical details. there were dozens of new words I encountered, a good portion of which came from the heroine's trip to a dress shop. that took me out of the story, and it was difficult to visualize the atmosphere when I couldn't keep up with the jargon.

this book was the definition of a slow burn. they had sex in the literal last chapter. I haven't read anything else by this author so I don't know if that's their MO or if this was a fluke. I generally like my kisses by page 100 and then a solid pace after that, haha.

I'm excited about this new series and am bummed I have to wait so long for the next one.

A good historical romance that made me smile and root for the characters.
The historical background is vivid, the characters are well thought and the plot flows.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine

How to Catch a Wicked Viscount very much fell into the "it was ok" category for me.

What makes romance such a tricky genre is that if the central romance doesn't work for the reader, generally the book as a whole doesn't really work. While I did like the concept for the series (four scandalous friends who get together to learn about things women aren't supposed to know) and the scenes between the friends, the romance between Sophie and Nate was entirely unconvincing. They instalust on one another and ultimately think that's love. I really don't get a sense of a true kinship between them.

On the whole, I liked the writing and the fluffiness of this romance, but the sex scenes were painful ("quim" and "cunny" are not words that make for a sexy atmosphere imo) and many lines came off as super cheesy, though maybe those would have worked if I'd believed in the romance. Aside from that, the villain of sorts in Buxton felt very flat and convenient (as in he shows up to menace and be creepy and then Nate always immediately appears to rescue Sophie).

Since I felt meh about the ship, I was largely bored by this. However, I will be trying the second book in the series, and I hope I like it more.

I enjoyed reading this historical romance, but I didn't think it did anything extraordinary. I thought Sophie made a fun heroine, and I liked how she ultimately went after what she wanted in life. My biggest issue with this book is that the main conflict comes from Nate's reluctance to be in a relationship, a reluctance with origins in supposed deep emotional pain that never actually seems to effect him in his day-to-day life. In other words, I felt like the main conflict keeping Sophie and Nate from being together was Nate just being ridiculous.

Still, this was a perfectly fine historical, and I think fans of the genre will probably enjoy this story.
