a psmithian nick's sequel novella wherein he once again claims his uncontested title of Character Most Likely To Get Violated By Eldritch Horrors But Be Kind Of A Good Sport About It. plus a smattering of elegant and concise short stories.

The novella about the Old Kingdom was done well, with little things thrown in there that I somehow overlooked the first time through. (You probably know what I'm talking about.) The short stories are good, too, and range from the humorous to the serious, covering everything from Arthurian Legend to the Wild West. A great little collection.

The Old Kingdom story was good. Not thrilled with some of the others, but he's usually entertaining.

I enjoyed a lot of the stories in this! Nicholas Sayre and the Creature in the Case was great and a few others like Charlie Rabbit, The Hill, and Down to the Scum Quarter, Hope Chest, and Three Roses were also memorable and enjoyable. A few I didn't connect with or didn't care for.

Eh. Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I enjoyed parts of it. For instance, I liked Charlie Rabbit, From the Lighthouse, stories seven through to ten and Three Roses. But the rest were so very meh.
I guess I was just hoping for some more epic Old Kingdom stories, but only got two. Garth Nix, I am disappoint!
It's a very easy read, though. I probably would have easily finished it in a day if I had the time.
But if you're looking for more Abhorsen-esque stories, you won't receive it here, sry2say.

A nice enough companion to Nix's other work, though many of the stories aren't Abhorsen-related. There are some real beauties in there though.
