mysterious medium-paced

Couple first & last chapters were good, all that middle stuff was just a bunch of meh.

I felt like this book tried to hard to make our narrator so gullible and unaware of her surroundings to believe the reality around her. The ending also fell flat for me.

I thought the pacing was good and the plot kept me turning pages, but I didn't find the ending entirely satisfying. I did like, though, how Ali, who at first appears to be such a feminist, abandons those ideals once she finds herself on the inside rather than on the outside looking in. I was glad the author let her be complicated and downright unlikable at times, and I liked that she didn't hold any punches about Ali's hypocrisy, while also making the reader understand why Ali acts the way she does. I found this a very realistic portrayal because human beings are really, really skilled at finding justifications for things to help smooth their misgivings away.

A pretty good book.

This book had me guessing for so long! Everytime I thought I knew what happened something else came into picture and completely threw me off! Let me say I did not see this coming! The second I read this one sentence and it clicked I was in shock and it was so much more than I even expected. Great book.
