I would love to go on a rant about how awful and uncaring and hypocritical the main character in this story is throughout this book, but I am not going to waste my time on it. This is a book about victim-blaming and rich people who care more about maintaining their lifestyle and keeping up their social status than their relationships with their spouses and best friends. It is sickening.

After loving “I know you” I had really high hopes for this book. But it wasn’t to be. I always know if I’ve found a book less than interesting because writing a review feels like a chore.

This thriller focuses on a group of friends who met at university, they meet for a reunion dinner over 20 years later, and some of their families are introduced to the story.

There’s an attack during dinner, and the plot follows the “who’s guilty” journey, picking up on an attack close to the same friendship group 25 years ago.

Lots of the characters are unlikeable, so there was no loyalty or hopeful emotions from me towards them as I read. The story is clever, but didn’t feel up to the standard set by “I know you” - here it felt like an overcommitment to action and not enough credibility .

It did keep me guessing, and although it wasn’t predictable it was still presictable ish.

This book is somewhat if a thriller/mystery. There are not actually scary scenes, except for perhaps one. Through twists and turns, the author holds the attention of the reader, who hopes, thinks, and considers what actually happened.
The story deals with more than just the horrific rape, group of friends, and getting to the bottom of it. In the getting there, marriage, truth, lies, loyalty, the issues of men and women and the sexual often double standard, the objectification of women, love, and even a few more issues, are touched upon
The book is well written. The main character’s stories are told in sections. While there are references to a few current pop culture trends, it is not so much that the messages about more serious issues are overshadowed.
Three stars is a good rating, for me. A four star has to be excellent and a five, not comparable to anything else.
I recommend this book to readers who like intriguing stories. Also, those who are interested in women’s issues, culturally. The book is a very good read.

This was a gripping story filled with constant twists and turns right until the very last page. Set around the night of a University reunion of 6 friends and the horrific rape of one of them. The book showcases how victims of sexual assault are still subjected to questions such as how drunk they were, what they were wearing or if they had previously relations with the rapist. However, none of that matters if they are not able to give consent or do not consent then it is rape as nothing else matters. The added twist of the knife attack on Mike, the 25 year long affair and the murder of Martha when they were at uni added more suspense and layers to the book. I figured out that it was Callum but it was horrifying when it was revealed that Toni helped to cover it up. Anna in the end couldn't even trust those closest to her or trust her own judgement.

Was not that much of a twist. Dragging out the mystery but not written in a clever way. Just a lot of information mentioned but the author decides to
tell you bits but leave information out till later.

I read this book overnight. I guessed correctly at certain things and incorrectly at others. It definitely was a good who-dunnit. As always the bouncing between years drives me nuts but I also know a person's past molds the future so both stories were necessary. I am not sure other parts of the book were necessary either so I skipped large chunks sometimes because they were boring.

This was a very interesting book. At times it was boring and others times I couldnt stop reading it.

The ending was surprising though.

What does it say about a person who withholds the truth that could save someone's life.
