This is a one shot issue focusing on Braga, an excellent character with a wonderful story. I really enjoyed getting to see her backstory. I can't wait for the Rat Queens to finally come back to me again, although I'm holding off judgement on the new artist until I finally hold issue 9 in my hands.

This came in my Image Comics Humble Bundle, and I read it pretty quickly (less than an hour). I was slightly confused, at first, because I only barely remembered Braga from Rat Queens Volume 1, and didn't remember that she was a trans character, but she's awesome. So smartass. I had the same problems with this as I had with Rat Queens (namely: I like the dialogue alright and the art is nice, but found the pacing to be a little slow.) Also I don't think the Orcs are as sharply drawn as the rest of the series, which makes them hard to focus on. But pretty good, still. I'm excited to see if Braga has a bigger role in the next volume.

I love this story! Braga's origin story.

It's reprinted in the Deluxe Edition (for volumes 1 & 2) as well as in the trade for volume 3.

I was missing the Rat Queens so I decided to pick this one up, and of course it didn't disappoint! We get to see Braga's back story and it's fantastic. If you like Rat Queens you MUST read this special!

it was good but it seemed to wrap up VERY abruptly. I'm assuming they plan on on doing more issues to fill in the gap, but it was done SO choppily i found it very jarring. The content seemed a little short overall too.
I DO want to see more happening in this story arc - Braga is an excellent character! And i'm really happy with the fact that the Rat queens have a trans character fleshing out their ranks. (LOVE this series!)
I just found the craftmanship of this particular issue was a little less than what i've come to expect from the Rat Queens creators - likely due to all the upset to their team late last year. Totally forgivable.

As usual, I have taken far too long to get around to reading something awesome.

It was an absolute blast to get to read about Braga, and her backstory had far more to it than I could have anticipated. I really feel a one shot did not do her enough justice here, and I would absolutely love to see a spin off series of her story. Enough to fill one TPB volume, at least. The glimpse of her past was violent, touching, and humourous all at once, and I would love to see a more complete story of who she is, her past, etc.

I really enjoyed Fowler's art in this, and I feel it suited the story quite well. I would love to see more work from her.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Rat Queens, and maybe just to anyone looking for a fun yet dark fantasy one shot.

This is also in the Vol#3 "Demons".

Great story of transformation (whether mental, physical or magical is up to your imagination) and being who you want/need to be.
