I still like the battles, maneuvering space ships and everything that comes with that. I like, how we once again get shown how (long) war changes what honor and so on means and what an impact it has when someone with a different understanding of honor & co suddenly comes along.
But, I really do not like how Rionne and Tanya keep being written when it comes to the personal relationships/roles (The relationships/roles as advisers and friends? Awesome. Everything else? -.-). I mean, seriously? -.-
I'm not sure if I'll keep reading this series. On one hand, I'm intrigued by everything introduced in this book but on the other hand... We'll see.

The last part of this series. This time they fleet is no longer running, but instead is on the attack. However, it is roughly the same that has gone before - large battles in space.
I did enjoy the happy ending, after the type of stories that had been told before this was seriously needed.
I do have another series by Jack Campbell to read, but i think i will pause a little and read some other authors first.

A new interstellar enemy ensures this series will continue next year. I'll be reading it and hoping that love interest subplot doesn't get any more ridiculous than it has already.
Relatively well crafted competency porn, in a familiar military science fiction setting. The author provides some level of closure for the major issues in "The Lost Fleet" series.
I enjoyed the series, and of course, if you've already read the first five books in it, you have to read Victorious.

I found the author's habit of constantly repeating what had gone before or how things worked was really wearing a trifle thin. Do we honestly need to know how the conferencing software works every time the hero has a conference? Why do I have to be told ever other chapter that Black Jack woke up after a hundred years in survival sleep? I can understand that the author does it so new readers can just pick up the book but there really is a limit to how much is required. You can't help but being left with the impression that the author was desperately trying to make up the word count. I agree with another poster that this series could have been completed in three books.
All that having been said I did enjoy this series and the final book. Although I did think things ended a little too easily. I was disappointed that we didn't learn more about the Aliens nor did we see what happened to Geary and Desjani. I can't help it I wanted to see him meet her family. I've read somewhere that the author is planning on including that in his next book in the new series. I doubt I'll be picking up that series - I'll just browse the relevant passages in the book store.
I'm giving four stars because I found the story and characters engaging if a little one dimensional at times.

A good ending to the series. Some exciting twists that leave the possibilities wide open for the follow-up novels. Highly recommended for people who love military sci-fi.
