DELICIOUS!
The world-building here is gorgeous (just fun to look at) and intriguing; a fun read for foodies.

I didn't notice until after I finished this volume that it was only recently published and there aren't more for me to read at this time. I didn't know what to expect from this story other than it was culinary-themed. I did not expect the rich world building, deep character stories, and unique political system. In this medieval-modern hybrid, you need a license to cook professionally and there are prestigious academies you can attend to earn those esteemed titles. Flavor focuses on a young women trying to save her paraplegic parents and their lowly omelette shop. Omelettes are ironically the dish you need to perfect to enter the culinary academy. I liked the parallels between the young woman and a student in the academy. I liked the competitions and how seamlessly food was woven into the society. It's a necessity, but it was also art, competition, and a gritty integration of how these people live. Flavor was a unique comic that pulls you in and I need to dip my spoon into more of this tasty series! It's on the opposite end of the Chew comics definitely!

I wanted to love this. I love dogs and I've got a thing for illustrated food (I really love it!), this just didn't have enough of it for me.

This was a good GN.  It was fast and easy to read and I enjoyed it. I’d read more of them!

Delightfully hectic hero’s journey with coming-of-age struggles, elite cooking schools, underground competitive cooking, a city-wide tournament, an ominous mountain spirit with an appetite, and a very well read dog named Buster. The most charming part of reading Flavor was protagonist Xoo’s autonomy and focus in the kitchen. All of the din falls away, and she is creating. Woo Xin Clark nails that expression in the middle of a visually fantastic and loud world.

Intriguing, and too short. But, I'm familiar with the long plot game in graphic novels/comics
