well… that was forgettable.
i think i’ve read too many in this genre to actually connect/be surprised anymore. maybe i’m nitpicking but i read another comment that went like “all this for a bunch of apples?” and i must say, i have to agree. the climax was so rushed and it didn’t even feel satisfying.
that said, i enjoyed the writing style and i did think august salt was rather swoon worthy.

Blahhhh how do you make a witchy murder mystery set in a magical island boring? Such a waste of time.

Biiiggg sucker for the second chance trope. Throw in the PNW, mystery, and spooky magic? *chefs kiss*
This was such a gripping story. You are transported to Saorise and never quite leave. This is such a good fall read with its witchy vibes and misty island setting. With every page you ask yourself, what is the truth of that fateful night? If you like a bit of mystery and second chance romance, then do yourself the favor of reading this fantastic book.
I quite liked this book, although I was dissatisfied with the ending. It was a bit of a slow burn overall and then when we finally get to the climax it kinda just ends without real resolution. Other than that, it was very fall vibey and was reminiscent of something akin to Big Little Lies maybe? Anyway I had fun and I really like this author so good times had by all.
