This graphic novel took me no time to read, it was quick, compulsively readable, with a diverse cast of characters and an intriguing, sort of campy, but ultimately relatable story. Freddy is completely enamored with Laura Dean, but the issue is, Laura Dean is basically a textbook narcissist who won't stop breaking up with her (usually around holidays). Freddy is so invested in Laura that she frequently bails on friends and other responsibilities, and she ultimately needs to examine whether this relationship does her more harm than good. I thought that seeing a story like this told from a queer lens was refreshing and honestly really important. As I've spoken about before, toxic dynamics in wlw relationships are rarely examined in media and this was a stellar example of that. It's also a simple, but effective way to show that sometimes breaking up with someone you're in love with is not only okay, but necessary. The only thing that kept me from giving it the full 4 stars was that I would've added at least 100 more pages to it, because I really would've liked to see more!

I really loved the art and the concept, but the writing and delivery was very bland for me. I enjoyed the characters and I was living for all the queer representation in this book; however, the dialogue was uninspired.
The overall story/concept was well done and sorely needed! Freddy’s struggles with first love are relatable to so many young people regardless of sexual orientation. I think this story is especially good for young queer women to hear because they are not often warned about what a bad relationship looks like for them. So important!!
My favorite parts were the friendships. Doodle and Freddy’s friendship is the book’s anchor. When they were together, everything was so grounded. It broke my heart when they fought! Freddy’s journey is so necessary for young queer girls who need to know that they MATTER, even without a partner. What matters is that you surround yourself with people who uplift, respect, and love you unconditionally.

This book wasnt like the other happy go lucky graphic novels , it delt with a number of sensitive issues like toxic relationship , toxic freinship teen pregnancy abortion and more , but it handled all of those so delicately , and still showed how messy teenagers can be with thier chices , decisions and responsibilities .
Laura isnt a likeable character at all , she is infuriiating , confusing and overall a total douche , while freddy too isnt all very nice herself , she is wrapped in this toxic relationship with laura and cant get out of it , cant stop the cycle of thier on and off realtionship which inturn effects her frienships .
Laura dean keeps breaking up with me is real , raw and is an amazing read .
