I've been a fan of Archie & the Gang since I was a kid. Who wouldn't want to live in that wholesome world? I love the fashions, the fads, and the fun reflected throughout the decades-- while life may not be as simple and sweet as in these strips, the heartbreaks and hijinks are so familiar. My kids and my grandkids agree! Recommended reading for all ages :)

I am honestly rating this as a fan of Archie. The best part about this collection is the personal journeys that the creators, writers and illustrators shared with the readers. Each decade since the 1940s was given a good narration and it gave me a bit more of a connection with Archie because I know how it feels to be a fan. My Archie Memory Lane has opened up again because of this.

Recently read a history of the Archie comics, and my favourite parts of it were reading the inclusions of actual Archie comics, so thought I'd reach out for more. I'm not a huge fan of some of the modernizations (they just don't seem like Archie to me--mostly the drawing style, not the tone of the stories, although Dan Parent is wonderful and a huge exception), but in general this was a great collection and a nice chance to revisit these.

I've already added Book 2 to my wishlist.

(Note: 5 stars = amazing, wonderful, 4 = very good book, 3 = decent read, 2 = disappointing, 1 = awful, just awful. I'm fairly good at picking for myself so end up with a lot of 4s).

Totally worth it folks. From the very 1st comic to Veronica's intro to the best retro Katy Keene pinups to how Dipsy Doodles came to be and why they wanted a teenaged, imperfect L'il Jinx. Yum.
