I don't care for the book. I thought everything was alright, the sex scenes were well written but I just didn't care for Myst or for Wroth. I didn't like how slutty she was and how "ashamed" she felt or how Cole tried to justify her actions. Sure, in the situations Cole gave us she was justified, but she admitted in the beginning how she was slutty and then she has a whole entire collection of lingerie that someone would wear for her honeymoon. I was disappointed since I saw so many good reviews. It's a book that you'd pick up if you had a lot of time on your hands.

I listened to the audio book 4.5 raiting

Loved it and the enemies to lovers trope suited it very well really liked Mist as a character. I can deffentily see why so many people like this series after listening to this. The narrator did a great voice for Roth too which made the audio book more enjoyable.

Entertaining enough. Myst is a great character. Smut was circa 2000s (totally fine that’s when this was written) but good quality.

I know Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series is considered a classic amongst paranormal romance fans, but I just didn't jive with the writing. It felt dated for my taste and rather clunky. Also, I was pretty confused about when this story takes place. Obviously these characters are thousands of years old, but I could never figure out whether or not the story was set in contemporary times. Everything about the setting felt rather vague.

Male: Nikolai Wroth (Vampire)
Female: Myst the Coveted (Valkyrie)
Plot: She leaves him with a hard-on for five years (it's a supernatural thing, and painful). Then he finds her and wants revenge. And sex.

As a series starter (for such a huge series), this book is pretty good. It introduces a new world full of different supernatural species, complete with discrimination and rivalries between species.

The protagonists, in the beginning, were not my favourite and the relationship we saw was pretty unhealthy. It was made worse by the fact that the characters and hundreds and thousands of years old, which made them hard to relate to. But they grew on me. They redeemed themselves and by the end, I was confident that the unhealty relationship days were finished.

Overall, this was an okay book that was a bit info-dumpy and had a lot of characters (I only remembered a few of their names when I'd only read this book). But it had a interesting story and world. Hence why I read ten of the books.

A Hunger Like No Other

A fun read if you like paranormal romance. Don't take it to seriously and you'll enjoy this book. It has various Lore creatures, banter and romance. A quick and fun read.
