I'm sorry. I wanted to like this one. I really did. But... I didn't. The premise was great, but I don't think it lived up to expectation. There were cute moments, but I don't think they were all earned. I still want to like it, even now. The ending was so rushed that I felt sure there was more coming. The male lead was just mean for a lot of the book, and I just couldn't... Even with all the extenuating circumstances/backstory of tragedy he's got going on, and the just-a-tad-too-late regret at every horrible prank he pulls on her, I had trouble warming to him. I could've. But it wasn't earned in the story on the page. I don't think I'll read this one again.

I really enjoyed this story! It was a fun and entertaining read. I loved the characters. Alex was fantastic! She is dealing with a lot of crap from a lot of different people because she is trying out and then makes the boys baseball team. They aren't thrilled about it. All she wants to do is play and they have no softball team. She loves the sport and knows that she needs play her junior year as she is looking to get a scholarship to go to college to play ball. Grant and Alex are immediately drawn to each other but quickly are at odds because of Alex wanting to join the baseball team. And they both the same position. They throw a lot of insults and pranks at each other over the course of this book. There are quite a few misunderstandings and with neither wanting to back down it takes them a while to figure things out between them. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I loved the banter between the characters, it had me laughing for sure. It is a clean read. This book was highly entertaining and I would definitely check out more by this author.

Fun Sporty HS Romance. Fun and light, this book has been - along with its predecessors in the trilogy - a nice change of pace from the more "serious" books I've been reading of late, and this is one of the reasons I love this style of tale. Fair amount of angst here - these *are* teens we're dealing with - and some pretty awesome pranking going on in this particular book. Overall it stays true to everything about the tale, even including a healthy respect for baseball and its traditions. Truly a great book, and now I have yet another new author to follow. Very much recommended.

I liked it well enough (I’d say this is more close to 3.5 stars than to 3) but it felt out of place with the rest of the series like this characters were too grownup in comparison with the others from the series although they were all the same age. I also missed the cute family life scenes I was expecting because of the other books.
What would I’ve though had I started with this one? Who knows...

disliked this heavily. like wtf. no. ew. this series got worse as the books progressed. the dichotomy of grant’s moments of “i hate you” and “wait nvm i love you” were so idiotic. i hated this. except for alex. alex was just trying to do the deed of sport. BUT NO. grant is a craphead.
