This was my first experience with the writer. I was extremely frustrated with the repetitive descriptions and drawn out structure. However, once I started the story I felt compelled to finish it.

2.5 - I’m not a huge fan of the heroines who fall limp at the heroes feet but this lady was just mean at times. The last 20% sort of redeemed the book.

I’m having a fun time on my continued re-reads. The story that acknowledges the darkness and power imbalances and plays with them still. It’s a bodice ripper series, with a surprising hit of lore. I’m terribly fond of Alexandria as our heroine, and her brother Joshua, who isn’t ever ignored or swept away from the story.

Aidan, as a character, took me by surprise in such a good way. I loved the humor in this book and the relationship between aidan and alex. I had my differences with alex's struggle in her change to carpathian but overall thought she was an amazing character.
