This book just may not have entered my brain at the right time. I had a hard time finding the characters’ interactions with one another to be believable. There were some humorous bits, so it isn’t without good elements, but just didn’t pack the insightful or emotional punch that I had been hoping for when reading it.

The pacing in this book will be a familiar cadence for anyone who has lost someone they love. The bursts of humor, sadness, worries about one’s own continued living felt so familiar.

I didn’t know anything about this book going into it. It’s a novel about grief and friendship and how the way we love others is both wonderful and heartbreaking. Ash is walking her lifelong best friend through hospice care, and while the story is sad it’s also beautiful. I listened on audio and thought the narration was great.
