Thank god this one was short because I struggled to finish it. I expected more from this book when I started it. I love a good story that focuses on grief, life and death, moving on and healing, etc. but the only thing I got here was a self-absorbed MC with an annoying personality and a slew of bad life choices with her best friend dying in hospice in the background. Disappointing.

I had a hard time connecting to this book. I didn't really enjoy the MC and so even though there are some very nice things in here it was told from a POV that distanced me from it. The parts about what it is like when someone you love is dying were great, but unfortunately the other plots (especially about getting back together with the husband) did not do it for me.

I was hooked from the very first page. I laughed and I held my breath more times than I planned but Catherine’s personal and beautiful writing reminded me of the importance of long-lasting friendships, processing grief, and the fact that we all…want impossible things.

My first DNF of the year.
This book is not giving what I thought it was going to give.
This novel was a mess. It was jumbled words to me. The main character Ash is so self absorbed like your best friend is dying why are you acting like that?

The book is sad, but also comforting and funny at times. It was slow and the story of Edi’s death gets overshadowed by Ash’s life choices.
