After reading The Music of Eric Zann, and Call of Cthulhu, I thought At the Mountain of Madness would be amazing. It was really boring. At some point, Lovecraft was trying to scare us by not narrating how scary the indescribable aeon-dead beings were... and then would spend 20 pages describing exactly how the OldOnes looked.

I had to quit it after reading roughly 65% of the book as it got incredibly boring and repetitive.

I feel so stupid for barely understanding anything. For me it got so confusing and i felt so bored all the time while listening to it.

Too boring and just never got to the point. Perhaps this wasn't the best H.P. Lovecraft story to start with, I'm doubtful that I will attempt to read anything else from him for a lon  time.

I can respect that H. P. Lovecraft was a pioneer of his time and his world building abilities are great.

However his writing feels dense and repetitive which left me feeling uninterested and lost. The most exciting part was
when we finally got to hear about the cosmic horrors/ancient city.
but that was over halfway through the book.

I like the premise of this story. Love weird lit. Love horror/cosmic horror. This just didn’t live up to what I thought it would be.
