I heard really good things about Jane Eyre so I thought it would be a 5 star and I did really enjoy the first two thirds (the pacing and drama surprised me with how tense/readable it was) but then I thought the drama after rochester and Jane got together was less interesting. It could also be that I just didnt really relate to the characters and thought they were both being kind of dumb.
Jane by just running off and rochester for keeping some lady in a cell and not telling anyone about it. Also he was kind of weird towards Jane like weirdly forceful which I get is a period thing but I still found it weird. Oh also I could not deal with the way that he talked about her as this little pixie thing was kind of infantalising

Mr. Rochester is a giant walking red flag, and yet you can’t help rooting for him and Jane because they’re truly kindred spirits. Best friends who others find weird and off putting. I love them both.
