This is the third book I’ve read in the Dana Hargrove legal thriller series and each one is well written. In HOMICIDE CHART, assistant DA Dana Hargrove is newly married and has a young child at home. She’s also busy in the courtroom, prosecuting a gang member whose case quickly grows more complicated due to the actions of someone else tied to the case. She also has to work the homicide chart, where she’s called out in the middle of the night to go to crime scenes. The author did a great job of showing how stressful juggling all these responsibilities would be—especially with a young baby at home. There’s another plot involving the au pair who cares for her infant son Travis that winds up getting Dana’s family twisted up in it, plus an interesting complication in the first trial. I also found the subplot involving the author quite funny. Great characters, wonderfully detailed and an excellent read. Recommended for lovers of legal thrillers!
