I felt like the book kind of dragged in the middle and it was long. But otherwise a great read!

I'm trying to catch up on Karen Rose's Romantic Suspense books.  I have not read them in order and want to get the entire series done.  I really enjoyed being back in the Chicago world.  I love the characters.  Detective Mia Mitchell is just coming back to work after her being shot.  Her partner is still in the hospital.  She is paired with an Reed Solliday, an arson investigator, to work on a case of a fire where someone was murdered before the fire.  Mia and Reed are complicated characters.  There are more fires and more deaths.  Mia and Reed become targets.  Karen Rose's writing is great.  Her plot is tight.  Her characters are interesting and well developed.  Her ending is satisfying.  I would highly recommend this book.

Romantic thrillers - who knew they'd make such a good holiday read! Good story, interesting characters, yet not too much thinking required.

After spending 5 previous books with Mia as a side character, it was great to finally get her book and what a book it was.
Mia is on the trail of a serial murderer / arsonist and has to team up with the fire detective to try to stop the killer.
Fast paced and action packed, as per I've come to expect from this author.
Being in the headspace of the baddie is always tough, but the author knows how far to push things, without going too far into brutal.
This one won't be for the fainthearted though, so be warned.

Count to Ten
4 Stars

After a series of deadly arson fires, Detective Mia Mitchell must work with fire marshall, Reed Solliday, to catch a killer set on revenge and not afraid to kill anyone who gets in the way.

Count to Ten is a solid thriller with a suitably despicable villain but the romance is not as satisfying as those in previous books.

Mia and Reed are both interesting characters struggling with personal issues and although there is a great deal of potential in their initial love/hate relationship, something is ultimately missing and the emotional connection just isn’t there.

The arson plot is gripping and although the killer’s identity is quite predictable, the motivation, climax and resolution are intense and suspenseful.

It was also good to catch up with characters from the previous books and I look forward to continuing with the series.
