I truly do not understand the hype with this novel. It physically pained me to finish this book. I listened to “One Italian Summer” as an audiobook, narrated by Lauren Graham, who is incredible but does not make sense for this role. I feel like I missed something with this book. It seemed to create a story and then tear it all down in a way that seemed like a cop out.

This one did a great job of making you feel like you desperately have to visit Positano, but that’s kinda it.
.
All characters were equally unlikeable and the author’s obvious privilege kept showing.
.
Disappointing, because the unexplained-meeting-and-hanging-out-with-your-mom-at-your-age idea coulda been so good!
