This book made me crave cajun food. Also Joe is a douche. And Sal too.
Well, with family like that who needs enemies? DNF, because I honestly hate everyone except Remy (and 2 of his siblings), and I do not want him to end up with Joe, ever...
Sweet even though there was conflict. Joe was a jerk for what he did, but I thought he made up for it well.
I really liked the Babineaux family, for the most part, and loved the tour of New Orleans.

This story was DELICIOUS.
It had a strong sense of place, two likable and sexy main characters, and a lovely family vibe that I just wanted to pull on like a favourite sweater and curl up in. It was also well paced, had great tension, and moved from hot sex to hot hate sex and back again seamlessly. I felt like the authors gave the characters a realistic obstacle to overcome and then dealt with the blow up and fall out in a way that never felt forced or overly dramatic.
The only thing that chaffed my ass was.
Bottom line: If this story were drunken devil cake, I'd want seconds - maybe thirds. This was hands down the best of the series.

Sal getting off with ten grand for stabbing his brothers in the back. I found myself actively hoping for a scene in which he would be hit by a Mack truck. You don't screw over family, dude! so i love remy...a lot. he has an amazing heart and soul. he is a great brother, son and grandson and his sense of family and tradition makes him one of a kind. he becomes an amazing 'boyfriend'...even if for selfish reasons. his love of cooking and all things local and authentic is completely endearing.
joe had his moments. i do believe in the end he was genuine but it took a long time to get there. i love his grand gesture in the end and realistically, that was the best for everyone but i was really disappointed he let it get that far. his dishonesty and shadiness was hard to take for someone as genuine and amazing as remy.
i liked andre ok but thought he was a bit wishy-washy for my tastes. sal was complete sh!t...enough said about him. tom was also pretty crappy and should have smacked sal down and stood up for his other 2 boys. sophie (their mother) was too much of a wallflower for my liking and didn't contribute much to the story. i didn't fully understand the subplot with the matriarch (remy's grandmother). i thought for sure when she finally did speak up it would be profound and life-altering and it just...wasn't. she was really just there and didn't offer much.
i would have liked a little more of an epilogue or a more developed end to the story.

Very sweet. Really felt like I was in New Orleans - the food, the humidity, the music. Simple and straightforward writing. Would have liked a bit more smut but what was there was nicely hot. The characters were relatable with distinct. Loved Remy. Could see his man bun! I had more trouble visualizing Joe - I suppose because Remy was such an larger than life character. I had one quibble though - given what Sal did, I would have thought the family would have been angrier...
