To Catch a Geek by David Slayton
Contemporary M-M romance. Grumpy sunshine troupe.
Childhood actor Cameron wants nothing to do with the fandom that follows the science fiction tv show his father created and his mother starred in. Cameron’s childhood was spent at the filming studio among adults with little actual interaction with his parents.
Hunter wants to do a reboot of the sci-fi tv show Space Rangers and has raised funds from his podcast to get the project started. But he needs help from Robot Boy Cameron to move forward. It takes a bit of persuasion and patience but the two come to an agreement and Hunter moves into the pool house to start the research. Cameron and Hunter find they have things in common and a tentative friendship blooms.
Sad and endearing and hopeful. Cameron hasn’t come out publicly and never had the chance with his parents either. It’s too late now that his father is dead, but he tries with his mother and her comment can be construed in a couple of ways. Of course, with his experience, Cameron sees only the negative and it’s heartbreaking. Hunter’s presence and support in many different situations is lovely and loving.
I enjoyed this romance and hope that it is eventually published outside the Kiss platform so more hopeful romantics will be able to read it.
Chapter heading that I had to share after laughing out loud during my reading:
Someone figured out my password. Now I have to rename my dog.
