4.5 ⭐️⭐️ I loved that we got different characters and got to see more of King’s landing. Cersei made me want to jump in the book and kick her ass. I really loved how Jamie read the message then had it thrown in the fire

A bit boring. There were like POVs from other characters we don’t know, found that a bit boring. Some of the storylines I really like other I just skimmed (everything in Kings Landing is sooo annoying, and the iron islands ever worse).

Still, I powered through! I’m curious to see how the rest of the characters are doing in the next book!

3.5 rounded up to 4

I have so many thoughts, and will come back to this once I finish the rest of ADWD…….but I’ve got some serious beef with George RR Martin

My least favourite of the series so far, but still a decent read. Onto the next one!
adventurous challenging tense medium-paced

This book was a bitch. I need a break, seriously, I couldn’t wait to be done with this one. So much filler and world building, it was so boring in places.
Writing was great and built up a very nice picture but so much exposition and jumping from place to place without ever really developing story lines?
No Dany. No Tyrion. No Jon.
And. So. Much. Greyjoy.
Appreciate the Cersei POVs as she’s such a good read and so twisted.

First, there was way too much Cersei in this book for my liking! I know Martin thought it would be better to give us a whole story for half the characters, but I think I would have preferred to get half the story for all the characters and have Book 5 pick off where Book 4 left off. Although I appreciate the groundwork he is laying for the next couple of books, it was hard for me to get invested in this once since my favorite characters were largely absent.
