I can’t rate this book because I didn’t finish it. Why bother, if the author can’t be bothered to finish the series I might as well leave off midway through this book then waste my time reading another book knowing full well it is impossible to read the full series. I know George is busy with other projects but they are mostly spin-offs from this one that are bringing in the cash, I think this shows a total disregard for fans of the song of ice and fire.

I can’t believe how long it took me to read this one, I’ve never been put in such a book burnout in my life. Too much war talk, barely any action, it was an absolute slog compared to the others which is such a shame.

The overall complex plot of A Song of Ice and Fire continues to be excellent; yet in this particular novel over 700 pages are dedicated to side characters and the pace is uncharacteristically slow, with no updates on important main storylines.

Four stars because of who died. I.E. All my favorite peoples. :( (and geez, one that I totally forgot about from the first time I read it. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO CRUEL, GEORGE?????)

Still one of the best things you will ever read.

3.5 rating. It focused too much on Samwell Tarly, Brienne Tarth, Cersei and Jamie Lannister, The Greyjoys and Martells. Missed Jon Snow, Daenarys, Bran Stark and Tyrion Lannister.
