The World's Fair! A flying bicyclette! So many opportunities to flex a bad French accent when reading aloud!

Will seemed to like this one and I did too. There are 1,652 steps to the top of the Eiffel Tower, but there were not that number when Peppa Pig did it.

I read this book out of order. Had I read it in order, I think I would have rated it higher.

This is a typical Magic Tree House book that follows Jack and Annie on an adventure in time.

This may be one of my favorite Magic Tree House books so far! Paris is one of those place I'd love to be able to see one day. But I love that Jack and Annie got to experience the 1889 World's Fair in Paris in this book! They got to see so many new inventions of the time that are common-place in their reality and got to meet four of the most famous inventors of the 19th century! I'd love for a chance to experience a World's Fair, but no one's planning one anytime soon (I really think these Fairs need to be brought back to life).

This book also appealed to the history major/teacher in me because of the people Jack and Annie met as well as the exhibitions they saw. They got to see Edison's light bulb and phonograph, Bell's telephone, Eifel's tower, and Pasteur's lab (though that outside the fair grounds). Those are inventions and inventors I studied in one of my last undergrad history classes as well as inventions that still fascinate me to this day (I mean, really, look at how far we've come with the light bulb, musical recordings, and telephones). I would love to have been in Jack's and Annie's shoes, even if they are fictional characters!

What a nice story I’m sure kids will enjoy! Would be a great accompaniment to learning about directions, prominent inventors, and the value of hard work!

I really liked this one. It taught them to actually look and see what people thought were magic at the time, was science and determination. Of course there was another twist and that was Merlin showing up. Surprising, but also not.

This was an unusual entry in the Magic Tree House series that featured a lot of plot twists, and a mission which was definitely not what it at first appeared to be.

The setting is the 1889 Paris Worlds Fair, and Mary Pope Osborne does a great job of bringing 19th Century Paris to life as Jack and Annie race to find four "New Magicians" before an "evil sorcerer" gets to them.

The kids face some real challenges, including a climb of 1,652 steps of the Eiffel Tower.

This was a fun addition to the series that had some great images (with some impressive work by illustrator Sal Murdocca) and an interesting cast of historic characters.
