3.5 ⭐️I have a lot of thoughts…

— really feel like I need to read Rebecca now because something was missing from my base of knowledge while reading
— I love this setting, ESPECIALLY Sara Laughs. What a great setting for a ghost story—a cavernous lake house
— a few of the chapters were almost TOO good: impossible to put down, tense, wildly entertaining. Devore and Rogette were GREAT villains. Loved.
— my least favourite part: King loves to write himself into his works, which is understandable (blah blah write what you know blah), but this has got to be the most CRINGE version of him. Widowed writer captures attention of woman half his age? But of course he catches her attention, as he’s one of her favourite authors… thus the basis of my issue. The power dynamic was weighted sooooo intensely towards Mike (he has financial power over her, “respect” over her in being her favourite writer, age over her, etc.). Yeah, didn’t enjoy. Couldn’t buy into that love story at all. Would’ve loved this a lot more if their relationship had unfolded in a wholly platonic way.

So yep! Lots to say, but a great book overall.

One of my favorites but also one of the hardest to get through. King definitely makes you feel some type of way about the villains

Bag of Bones is a haunting story of tragedy and grief and one of my favorite King books... even more so the second time around.

DNF - good hook, but boring and annoying main character, and no interesting conflicts. 200 pages out of 700+ and I was still wondering what it was all about

enjoyed the plot but man was he horny writing this one. slow burn. reminded me of duma key/rattlesnakes. obviously not a fan of the massive age gap in the relationship

I think this is the first book from Mr King which I didn’t particularly get into. It felt a bit longwinded and a bit slow. It also wasn’t really scary just weird and didn’t make much sense. It felt like there were three stories in one but neither kind of met up. I wasn’t convinced by the whole spooky vibe going on and it just felt wrong. I think it’s ok but not for me.

Enjoyed this audiobook! Slow start, but once you get into it, it is too intense for words.

I started a little slow but it got to the typical King-esque eerie vibes pretty quickly.. It's been a while since I last ready anything from King but this book was a great reminder of why I love his work.
